  Hundreds of people have been killed in a landslide in northeastern Afghanistan - and the death toll is feared to rise as thousands may have been buried alive in the rubble. Rescue operation hampered by the lack of infrastructure in området.Sent the evening, local time, counted the UN to more than 350 fatalities in the landslide that occurred earlier in the day in Badakhshanprovinsen in northeastern Afghanistan. Around 700 families have been rescued, but still missing some 2 000 people, according to emergency services.

- An estimated 350 to 400 homes were destroyed in Argodistriktet as a result of heavy rain triggered landslides, said the region's deputy governor, told AFP.

UN declares that they will help coordinate rescue efforts, but it is difficult because the road leading to the area is not sufficiently stable to withstand heavy transport.
